Ramsay MacFarlane
Ramsay MacFarlaneHead Coach
TrailCoach founder Ramsay has many years of MTB experience riding and exploring the wonderful trails of Scotland, as well as riding across the UK and Europe.

He has raced at international level in the Enduro World Series (EWS) and regularly competes in the Scottish Enduro Series (SES).

He is a Level 3 Mountain Bike Leader (British Cycling) and GoMTB coach (Cycling Scotland) with Outdoor First Aid training, and is PVG-checked.

John McKenzie
John McKenzieSenior Coach
John is an experienced rider who has been there and done that – he’s ridden all over the country and has many a mountain biking tale to tell.

After raising his own family he wanted to spread the bike love even further, now filling his newly-found post-parenting time with Kids Club fun and games.

Wes Fife
Wes FifeFreelance Coach
Originally from North Yorkshire, Wes cut his dirt around Guisborough, but now resides in the MTB mecca that is the Tweed Valley.

He’s recently graduated from the esteemed Borders College BASE programme, specialising in Mountain Biking. He’s already got an impressive resume of race experience around the UK and Europe, racing enduros from the EWS to Mega Avalanche.

He is a qualified Technical Trail Leader (MBCUK) and has ITC Outdoor Emergency First Aid training.

Jess Stone
Jess StoneFreelance Coach
Jess is an established MTB race machine. She started her MTB journey racing downhill in her native Englandshire from a very young age, also achieving a BSc (hons) in Sports Science & Exercise at Worcester University, before moving to the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders where she has coached and guided for years, then switching to racing Enduro and has never looked back.

She is a valued team member, working with us in between her gruelling training and racing schedule, passing on her experience and knowledge to the next generation at Kids Club, particularly inspiring young women to get involved in the sport and have fun riding bikes.

Thomas Kirk
Thomas Kirk Junior Coach
Thomas is another example of our development process – he’s proved himself worthy of being on the team by consistently demonstrating his skills, positive encouraging attitude and having lots of fun on his bike.

He’s already gained a wealth of experience helping at Kids Club over the years and is now a qualified L1 coach, as well as racing DH and enduro in his spare time between school work and exams.

Jake Drummond

Jake is known as the Smooth Operator – precise and calculated and a brilliant professional.

Although still with a wee while to go before he can qualify, he’s already gained a wealth of experience initially helping now working at Kids Club and is developing his knowledge and honing his racing acumen for the years ahead.

Kyle Nisbet
Kyle NisbetJunior Coach
Kyle has been with us for years and has proved his mettle by volunteering at our Kids Club after effectively graduating from it.

He’s now very close to getting his initial qualifications and will be taking on a dynamic role as a coach with creative media in particular.
