The TrailCoach Camp at Nevis Range

Kids Residential Trips

Our kids residential trips are so much more than just mountain biking. From building an operational camp to cooking, cleaning and gathering firewood are all vital parts of learning to ensure our residential trips run smoothly.

More than just a Riding Trip!

The learning opportunities and rewards are endless when taking young riders on residential trips. They are introduced to the camping way of life, stripped back from most of the usual luxuries. Teamwork is essential, with everyone taking turns at cooking, cleaning, washing and drying clothes and maintaining bikes.

However, hard work isn’t for nothing. Riders are rewarded with endless riding in the network of trails around camp, and even uplifts if the venue allows!

Bringing Learning to the Outdoors

Learning to live without regular luxuries of everyday life is becoming a skill in itself. On our kid’s residential trips, riders learn many basic but fundamental skills such as the basics of cooking, the importance of keeping a clean camp and even how to start a fire.

Entertainment off of the bikes is never a problem – from watching a movie on the Vacation Station to singing around the campfire. There’s never a dull moment on our residential trips.

Beginner

A single overnight stay for our youngest rippers ages 5 to 9. On our beginner kids residential trips, they are introduced to camping away from home and their parents.

Our team will take care of most of the work such as cooking, cleaning and maintaining the camp. The young shredder’s role will be learning how to be self-sufficient – to wear suitable clothes in relation to weather, keep their living space organised and develop teamworking skills.

The riding will be easy graded trails, focused on developing new skills and good habits for the future.

Intermediate

A 3-night excursion for older shredders that are fairly new to the outdoors and mountain biking, aged 10 to 16. On an intermediate kids residential trip, they are taught how to ride independently and are introduced to basic camp tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

Our team will be on hand to not only coach riding skills but will also be familiarising riders camp responsibilities such as setting up and maintaining the camp, cooking and cleaning.

The riding will consist of easy blue and red graded trails working on key skills, aiming towards riding more difficult trails.

Advanced

A full week of epic adventure for advanced shredders aged 10-16.

This trip is reserved for riders that have been on previous kids residential trips and will learn to become fully self-sufficient. They will be expected to organise themselves efficiently and take charge of tasks like cooking and cleaning.

They will be rewarded with an unforgettable trip, taking in the best riding the venue has to offer.
