Guided Mountain Bike Rides in Torridon

All eight routes require a certain degree of fitness and ability, but all riding enthusiasts can enjoy them at a slower pace.

Riding the Wilderness

Situated in the northwest Highlands, approximately 100-miles north of Fort William, and 80-miles west of Inverness, the Torridon region unfolds its enchanting mystique. For many mountain bikers, this area offers authentic Scottish off-road adventures. There are eight distinct routes to choose from, all of which are challenging and rewarding in equal measure. However, be prepared for some hike-a-bike and rock scrambling as the term “rural” takes a whole new meaning with its seductive scenery and remote attraction.

Beinn Damh Circuit (Shortest)

Of the trails on offer, the Beinn Damh Circuit is the shortest of all but don’t be deceived by its description as this route demands 615m of climbing over a 22km distance. Perfect for shorter days, this trail consists of rough and rocky technical riding and faster sections. Taking in the beauty of Loch Torridon, which drains to the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll cycle along Loch Damh before climbing up the shoulder of Beinn Damh. After a wee breather at Drochaid Coire Roill to take in the sights, the descent to the bottom will have you grinning from ear-to-ear.

Torridon Classic (Popular)

Torridon Classic is the most popular and frequently ridden trail in the Torridon region because it takes in the best of the landscapes and the riding! Covering a total of 46km with 806m of elevation, the trail begins with a gradual incline above Loch Coulin which takes you to Coulin Pass, the summit. Swooping down a fast descent, a forest road awaits which will have you weaving through small villages before reaching a steep and technical climb – which many choose to walk. Rewarded with memorable views, the descent back down is one to remember for a lifetime.

Torridon Monster (Epic)

Are you looking for a truly epic Scottish mountain bike adventure? Then the Torridon Monster is a must-do ride. At nearly 60km is distance, this off-round beast will have you climbing over 1,700m, giving you the most comprehensive and unforgettable tour of the Torridon region. Try and get around in one day, or make a multi-day trip out of it, it’s a route that’s certainly not to be missed.
